Anyone ever been in the loading dock equipment arena? I have a friend who has done well with it, but I think his company is one of the market leaders.

I have a friend who is a manager with a loading dock equip company. He said that first year reps make anywhere from 80 to 100k or so. By year 3 if they are not in the 100 or so range they are gone.

He did say that business had been hurt by recent economy but goals had not been reduced.

I can confirm this. Talked with a friend who is in this industry and said that top performers average 150-175k with very top sometimes going to 300k. He added that next years goals have been set based solely on last year with no consideration given to the current economy and that very few if any in his district will make bonus in the coming year.

I checked back with my friend who is a manager about opportunities with his company. He said they have a hiring freeze on right now -- the company is Arbon. They are not even filing currently open positions.

Things are tough out there. Good luck.

I used to be in industrial sales. In fact I use to sell equipment used on a loading dock but there are lots of different types of loading docks. What kind of equipment are you referring to when you say loading dock equipemnt? There is a lot of equipment used on a loading dockas from cranes to fork trucks to a whole range of products. Could you find out and tell us what company your friend works for. Just curious. I am in pharma sales and was curious about the activity of this site.
