Can someone discuss the compensation for a Major Rep? I believe the base is $42-$45k but I don't know anything else. Can you tell me about commission, car allowance/mileage, bonus, benefits, etc.? Thanks!

You get a base somewhere between 45-55k, no car, mileage up to $400-500 month depending on your territory, $50 for cell, and no budget for anything else. Commissions are progressive and you can't get toward the top without absolutley blowing your quota away. If you like entering in all your activity and being micromanaged by reports that no one can explain, this is the job for you. Oh, and you have to have an inner-telesales rep inside your head because you spend every fricking waking moment on the phone dialing for appointments

Compensation varies by job within Majors... There are Client DM's, Mid-Market DM's (50 - 99 ee's), Up-Market DM's (100 - 999 ee's), etc...

Mid-Market is tough and not much better compensation than SBS, unless you really knock it out of the park. Base depends on experience and is now $45k - $55k. Training salary is in the $70k - $80k range. Car allowance is $400 - $500 a month and they pay $75.00 of cell in our market. Of the 7 Mid-market reps in our territory, they average about $90k annually without being superstars.

Up-Market DM's have much more potential to make really good money and there are a lot of very tenured reps in our office. We have 7 reps and the average tenure is over 6 years. 2 of the reps in my office (not me) have made over $200k for each of the past 3 years. If you take them out of the equation, everyone else is making $110k - $150k just hovering around their annual quota.

The problem with people commenting on ADP is they tend to lump SBS and Majors together. I've been in both places and the difference in the two divisions is like night and day. SBS is a revolving door where most of the reps are young, with little sales experience. They grind them down then show them the door when they slip.

In my 5 years experience with Majors, it is completely different. I spent 10 months last year below 80% of my annual quota and was never even given a verbal warning.

SBS has laid off a ton of reps, but in our office we are actually hiring more reps for Majors...
